Rowing clubs have existed on the river since the early 1800's and the present club results from an amalgamation of the Medway RC with the Chatham and Gillingham RC in 1958. The club, which is affiliated to the Amateur Rowing Association, welcomes new members and provides all the equipment and coaching free of additional charge. A full training programme, adapted to the needs of the individual/crew, is pursued throughout the year, both on and off the water.
